CCI 22 Long is a copper-plated 29 grain rimfire cartridge chambered in the .22 Long — the historic intermediate rimfire between the .22 Short and .22 LR. The .22 Long cartridge is a distinct case dimension from .22 LR and requires a firearm specifically chambered for it. It is not interchangeable with .22 LR despite using the same diameter bullet.
CCI produces the 22 Long for shooters with vintage or specialised firearms that require this specific cartridge. The copper-plating provides cleaner feeding and reduced barrel leading compared to bare lead bullets. This is a specialty load for a specific application and is not a general-purpose substitute for .22 LR.
