The Taurus TH9 is the full-size flagship of the TH (Taurus Handgun) series — a comprehensive reinvention of the classic hammer-fired SA/DA service pistol platform with modern polymer construction, ergonomic refinements, and a complete ambidextrous control layout. Introduced in 2018 as the successor to the discontinued PT-809 and PT-840 models, the TH9 brings Taurus's accumulated service pistol expertise into a thoroughly contemporary package.

The TH9 is notable for a feature rare in this collection: interchangeable backstraps in three sizes (standard, large, and extended), allowing genuine grip customisation to fit different hand dimensions without aftermarket modification. Combined with a Picatinny accessory rail, Novak drift-adjustable front and rear sights, and fully ambidextrous controls — safety, slide stop, and reversible magazine release all operational from either hand — the TH9 is one of the most thoroughly specified full-size polymer pistols in the Taurus range.

The DA/SA trigger provides a smooth 11-pound double-action first pull and approximately 5.75-pound single-action subsequent pulls. The manual safety doubles as a decocker, allowing safe hammer lowering on a chambered round for traditional DA carry.
