Taurus PT92 9mm Pistol

The Taurus PT92 is not a copy of the Beretta 92 — it is a genuine continuation of it. In 1980, Taurus purchased Beretta's entire Brazilian manufacturing facility including tooling, machinery, production plans, and the trained workforce, and began producing the pistol under their own name once Beretta's patents expired. The result is a DA/SA 9mm service pistol with authentic Beretta 92 DNA, enhanced by Taurus-specific improvements that many shooters consider superior to the original Beretta configuration.

The most significant Taurus improvement is the frame-mounted ambidextrous safety/decocker — replacing the Beretta's slide-mounted version with a lower-profile, more ergonomically intuitive frame location that does not require rotating the slide safety downward. The open-top slide design — the iconic visual signature of the 92 series — exposes the 127mm cold-hammer-forged barrel and contributes to the legendary feeding reliability for which this platform is known across five decades of military and law enforcement service. A forged aluminium alloy frame (not polymer, not steel — both the AFS and AF-D have aluminium alloy frames) provides strength and balance that polymer alternatives cannot replicate.

Three finish variants are available at checkout: AFS — a stainless steel slide over a black anodised aluminium frame for a classic two-tone appearance; AF-D — a fully matte black configuration with the decocker function explicitly integrated into the safety lever mechanism; and Limited Edition — full stainless steel with gold-plated trigger, hammer, and slide release, plus genuine wood grip panels, presented in a collector's case. All three variants are mechanically identical — the finish is the only differentiator. The 17-round double-stack magazine is standard across all variants.
