Taurus 917C 9mm Pistol

The Taurus 917C is a crossover pistol combining a compact slide with a full-size frame — pairing a shorter 109mm barrel and slide with the full-size grip of the PT92 series and an 18-round magazine. This proportioning mirrors the philosophy of the Glock G19X in this collection: a compact barrel for manageable overall length with a full-size grip for maximum capacity and handling. Manufactured by Taurus Armas in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the 917C draws its design lineage directly from the Beretta 92 — the same platform Taurus has produced since acquiring Beretta's Brazilian factory and tooling in 1980.

The hammer-fired DA/SA action provides the classic double-action first pull from the decocked position, transitioning to lighter single-action pulls thereafter. The frame-mounted ambidextrous safety doubles as a decocker, allowing safe hammer lowering on a chambered round for decocked carry. This control layout — frame-mounted rather than slide-mounted as on the original Beretta — is the Taurus improvement over the platform that many shooters prefer for its more intuitive engagement and disengagement.

The forged aluminium alloy frame is a critical distinction from the polymer-framed Taurus models — it must be corrected in the store metafield. The aluminium frame delivers a quality of feel, balance, and durability that polymer construction cannot replicate, and contributes to the 917C's exceptional 18+1 capacity in a compact-slide package. It is the most capable DA/SA Taurus in terms of capacity and the only aluminium-framed DA/SA option in the Taurus range within this collection.
