The SIG Sauer Mosquito was designed as an accessible, cost-effective training companion to the SIG P226, produced at approximately 90% of the P226's dimensions to provide familiar ergonomics and handling at .22 LR ammunition pricing. For shooters maintaining proficiency with a service-sized SIG without the cost and recoil of centrefire practice, the Mosquito provided a practical solution.The blowback-operated mechanism cycles the .22 LR cartridge with a mechanical feel similar to the locked-breech recoil of the P226. The DA/SA trigger with functional decocking lever replicates the P226's control philosophy — both modes operate correctly and the decocking lever safely lowers the hammer. Ambidextrous manual thumb safety provides consistent carry and presentation practice. The integrated Picatinny rail below the barrel accommodates lights and lasers for force-on-force and low-light training applications. Threaded barrel option available for suppressor-equipped training.Manufactured by Carl Walther GmbH for SIG Sauer and originally imported to the United States by Sigarms Inc. of Exeter, New Hampshire.
