The Baikal MP-53M is a Russian-made spring-piston break-barrel air pistol produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant — a manufacturer with extensive industrial firearms heritage. Designed as an accessible, mechanically reliable target pistol, the MP-53M prioritizes durable construction and consistent performance over advanced features or electronic systems.  The defining characteristic of the MP-53M is its hammer-forged rifled barrel, a manufacturing process typically reserved for firearms quality production, ensuring a precision-rifled bore with excellent barrel longevity. The break-barrel spring-piston mechanism cocks the pistol with a single stroke, requiring no external gas or air supply. Anti-beartrap safety prevents accidental closure during loading. Muzzle velocity reaches up to 110 m/s (360 FPS) for practical target work at 10 meters.  The ambidextrous synthetic grip accommodates both left and right-handed shooters.
